My name is Wayne Bacon, and I am the Senior Ice Technician at the Slave Lake Multi Rec Centre. We operate a twin-pad arena, keeping the ice in our main arena year-round while removing the ice from our second pad annually.

 

Before installing Goal To Goal Solutions Inc.’s reusable arena lining system, power outages and plant failures often put our ice at risk. Over the course of one year, we experienced four incidents which would have resulted in a complete ice replacement. Removing and reinstalling the ice at a cost of approximately $16,000 each time.

 

Thankfully, Kevin Grumetza, owner of Goal To Goal Solutions Inc., installed the reusable GToG sheets on both of our arena pads last year. Despite the outages and equipment issues we experienced, we did not lose our ice or have to replace the lining. The ice looked fantastic throughout the entire year.

 

We have also been able to operate at a higher brine temperature, resulting in lower power consumption. When the ice is removed, the reusable sheets are rolled up and stored for the off season, meaning only water goes down the drain.

 

Based on our experience, I highly recommend Goal To Goal Solutions Inc. to other arena operators. The system has helped us protect our ice, reduce operating costs, improve energy efficiency and be environmentally friendly.
